With the news of the cap moving up next season and the exit of many payers through this year's trade deadline, Flyers GM Chuck Fletcher is looking to fill out the empty contract space.

Noah Cates is a 21-year-old left-shooting winger drafted back in 2017. Cates is 6'2 and weighs 190lbs. A big body winger with strength and grit who can play in the AHL with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms or crack the NHL soon after.
Cates has played the last three seasons in the NCAA captaining the University of Minnesota-Duluth men's team for the last two years.

Here, Cates strips the defenceman of the puck and uses his size and speed, beating the goalie to his right post before potting in the wrap-around.

He also possesses a scoring knack with a smooth forehand backhand move to open up the space right under the blocker.

First impressions, he skates hard and fast. In an interview done in 2020, his head coach at Minnesota-Duluth praised him for being able to play in all situations.
"He does a lot of things that sometimes maybe the normal hockey person doesn't always see all the time, but as a coach and as a teammate, you really appreciate it."
