Contending teams are acting fast and making plenty of deals prior to the NHL's trade deadline which is quickly approaching on March 3rd, seven days away. Non-contending teams such as the Flyers are not so much acting fast, but are deciding on who will be sold and who'll be kept heading into next year.
One name that has been swindled in plenty of trade rumours is Philadelphia Flyers forward James Van Riemsdyk, who carries a questionable cap hit of $7,000,000, which was signed by no other then Ron Hextall, but thankfully his contract is up after this season ends.
JVR is being targeted by contending teams, says Chris Johnston of TSN. Despite his absurd cap hit, the Philadelphia Flyers retaining a large amount of his salary will make him a very solid fit on a contending teams top 6, which will benefit their powerplay and other categories.
