The biggest name to enter the market as a free agency after this season is Patrick Kane. Until that time, teams may consider Kane as a trade-deadline addition to boost their playoff push.

If it goes through, this may be the largest trade in Chicago Blackhawks history, but it could not.
Fans of the Chicago Blackhawks may need to brace themselves for another similar circumstance after Kane's linemate Alex DeBrincat was dealt this off-season for a meagre return that included the seventh overall selection.
Claude Giroux and Patrick Kane have the same agent, and Kane is currently in a similar circumstance that Giroux was at this time last year. Similar to Kane, Giroux played his whole NHL career with the Philadelphia Flyers. However, when it came time for his last few seasons, he was forced to choose between staying with a losing team that may mean a dismal finish to his career or leaving.

The following information on a prospective Patrick Kane move was provided by Pat Brisson, Kane and Giroux's agent, and it's not good news for Blackhawks supporters.
It appears like Kane will bring in a comparable return to Giroux, which wasa first-round selection and a prospect. Do you believe Kane will be compensated more? We made the same error as the Blackhawks when Teuvo Teravainen, Alex DeBrincat, Artemi Panarin, and many more notable players were dealt in the most recent years, along with many others like Teuvo Teravainen.
''It's very similar, yes,» Brisson told The Athletic earlier this season.''
«The respect that both players have for each organization. Claude will have his number in the rafters in Philly one day, I do believe, and obviously Patrick as well in Chicago. Both players are very respected on those teams. Claude at the beginning of last season wanted to see how things were going to go with the Flyers. We realized pretty soon, by November, that if he wanted a chance at trying to win a Cup last season, he would have to make a decision. And he picked Florida. The Panthers were one of the most attractive teams at the trade deadline.''
Frank Seravalli, who was a former NHL analysts and is currently employed with the daily faceoff crew also commented on the situation...
«If you're looking for a potential style of deal in both managing it and potential return package, look back on how Claude Giroux departed Philadelphia last spring.»
Flyers fans need to understand this a lot more possible as the Blackhawks would be willing to take on a trade for Kane that involves a salary dump short-term, which lines up with James Van Riemsdyk who's contract expires at the end of this season. Obviously the Flyers would have to meet the circumstances of a 1st round pick + a top prospect, but they may also be able to throw away JVR at the same time.
