Evan Polei, a professional hockey player, has recently gained a lot of attention on social media, but not for the proper reasons.

Evan Polei, a member of the Winnipeg Jets organization who plays for their AHL affiliate team, the Manitoba Moose, was upset with a decision the official made and chose to challenge it with a swing at the boards. However, when the swing hit the official in the head, everything changed.
Even though Polei's actions were rather dumb, he did not want to hurt the referee in this instance.
Even though it wasn't intentional, it nevertheless happened and the referee was in shock; fortunately, it was a minor injury and he was able to continue calling the game.

Due to "abusing an official," the AHL has decided to suspend Polei for one game. Yes, some supporters are quite upset with the league's decision, but it really just proves that they didn't think there were any bad intents to injure the referee.
