Ryan Reaves, 35, has been struggling during his time with the Rangers. In 2021, New York traded for Reaves and then later extended him.

Since that time, Reaves has 13 points in 81 games, after having 0 points in 12 games to begin this season.
Reaves hasn't been playing much lately as he has missed 4 of the last 5 games, but it is not because he is injured.
Reaves has been a consistent healthy scratch and head coach, Gerard Gallant, had no problem saying it is because they have been deciding to go with speed.
Reaves is a power guy who could easily switch to defense if needed. So if Gallant wants speed, he surely won't find it from Reaves.
With the Rangers fading away from Reaves, it seems to be very likely that Reaves get's traded prior to the deadline. There should be a contending team out there with the cap space to take a shot on the veteran in his final contract year.
