When Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen was acquired and signed from the Buffalo Sabres last off-season, Flyers fans wondered if the first-round pick and a new contract worth more than $5 million per season would be worth it for the Flyers, or if it was just another Chuck Fletcher blunder.

One year later, you will hear different responses from different admirers. Some old-school fans or lovers of the hard hitting hockey style may like Ristolainen's tough and defensive game.
However, recently recruited head coach John Tortorella has stated that Ristolainen must improve his defensive game in addition to his hitting, and as a result, John Tortorella put Rasmus Ristolainen in the press box as a healthy scratch for their game against the Ottawa Senators on November 5th.
In Ristolainen's first game back in the Flyers lineup, he put in a far stronger effort than in previous games this season, and put on a sacrificial shot-blocking clinic, but he also suffered a lot of bruises.
