Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen faced a distinctive offseason challenge that set him apart from his fellow players. Instead of the usual summer training regimen, Ristolainen dedicated eight weeks of his time to serve in the army for his country.

This commitment meant that Ristolainen couldn't undergo the typical rigorous training that many NHL players undertake during the offseason. While it presented a unique set of circumstances, it also reflects his dedication to both his country and his sport.
Rasmus Ristolainen couldn't get the proper training this summer, as he had to go into the army. Ristolainen went into the army for 8 weeks, Tortorella said yesterday.

Wow I did not know that.
Head coach John Tortorella acknowledged Ristolainen's service, highlighting the sacrifices made by players like him. Ristolainen's return to the Flyers' lineup will undoubtedly be marked by the resilience and determination he displayed during his time in the army.
