Remembering Teddy Balkind - 16 Year Olds Life Taken During Hockey Game, Rest in Peace

Balkind was playing in a junior varsity hockey league game when Balkind would suffer a skate blade to his neck after a accidental collision. The Arena medics tended to his injuries, waiting for the paramedics to come, however Balkind would sadly pass away at the hospital.

The hockey world would honour Balkind by placing hockey sticks outside their front door, including NHL team's whowould all post jerseys with Balkind's number 5 on it. There's also been more rules in place to make sure all players in minor hockey have a proper neck guard in place so we don't lose anymore young players.
