The analysis of trades is often a better one in retrospect, as we see with Brayden Schenn, who has now made St. Louis his permanent home.
With Brayden Schenn on the team that beat the Boston Bruins in 2019, the St. Louis Blues likely won't have any regrets about this trade.
Since the team picked 2nd in the 2017 NHL Draft, knowing that they'd select a center (Nolan Patrick), Schenn was the odd man out at the center position.
It is still early in the two players' careers, but it looks like both could be long-term contributors in Philadelphia. Frost was a dominant player in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) with the Greyhounds, scoring 112 and 109 points in his last two seasons, along with 29 and 18 playoff points. He broke out in 2022-23 with 46 points in 81 games.

With Schenn's move, he could become a first-line player in St. Louis and play with Vladimir Tarasenko. Schenn would go on to win a cup in St. Louis, along with achieving a career-high, producing 70 points in 82 games, however never to replicate.
As a result, the Flyers would receive Jori Lehtera's huge contract, along with 2 first-round picks who became Morgan Frost and Joel Farabee. Both of these players have shown a lot of promise since then, and Farabee has been with the Flyers since 2019-2020 and looks to stay with the team.
Long-term, it could be seen as a win-win for both teams, as Frost and Farabee are key components to the team's future, and Schenn helped the Blues win their first Stanley Cup.
