Michkov returned to the KHL to fulfill his three-year contract with SKA St. Petersburg and to continue his development.

However, it appears that SKA St. Petersburg has found the next punishment for him after benching, demoting, and scratching him.
His loan has been returned to HC Sochi, where he was loaned last year and didn't want to return.
It is likely that he will have to relive the trauma caused by his father's death in Sochi as a result of this decision, which cannot be beneficial to the youngster's development in any way.
As a result of the KHL and Flyers' devolving relationship, this seems more punishment down the line.
In the KHL, Michkov will have a tough season if he's unable to regain form, but as a Flyer draft pick, it's likely a calculated attempt to bury him in Sochi.
