Daniel Briere, a former NHL player, and his son Carson faced criticism after a video surfaced online showing Carson pushing a wheelchair down a flight of stairs. The incident caused damage to the wheelchair and prompted the owner to set up a GoFundMe page to cover the costs of repairs. The video went viral on social media and can be viewed below:
Following the incident, there was speculation about whether Mercyhurst University, where Carson is a student, would take any action against him or if legal action would be taken. Recently, the university tweeted that they would be launching an investigation into the matter.
As a result of the investigation, Mercyhurst University suspended Carson and two other student athletes involved in the incident. The news was shared on the official Hurst Athletics Twitter account.
