Allison returned to practice with the team today, and there's a chance he'll be available for play in tomorrow night's game against the Buffalo Sabres. If the medial staff deems him physically ready to return, John Tortorella announced today post-practice that the team will use one of 4 post-trade deadline non-emergency re-calls on Tyson Foerster. Tortorella said they will likely only keep the top forward prospect up for roughly 4 or 5 more games before they send him back down to the Phantoms to help them attempt to make the playoffs.
In his three games with the NHL club so far, Foerster has played in the top-9 and has showed he has improved his skating enough since he was drafted to keep up with top-9 NHL talent. He's also showed off his defensive ability by blocking a would-be goal in his first NHL game against the Hurricanes as well as coming ever so close to netting his first career NHL goal in each of his first NHL games; getting as close as hitting the post against the Golden Knights.
Foerster has played in 57 games with the Phantoms thus far this season scoring 19 goals, 20 assists for 39 points. While I understand keeping the young forward up in the NHL a bit longer than expected, if the Flyers are serious about wanting the top prospects to play in a playoff-like environment to better their game in the future, they may actually benefit from sending Foerster back sooner rather than later.
