Scary moment as a former Philadelphia Flyer remains unresponsive after being knocked out
As a result of a play during the game against the Colorado Avalanche, the Vancouver Canucks are now without another defenseman, this ex-Philadelphia Flyer.
As
Valeri Nichushkin and
Mark Friedman battled for position in front of the net, they became entangled. Friedman was pushed back by Nichushkin with his stick, and things went downhill from there.
Upon falling back onto the ice, Friedman hit his head on the ice, knocking him unconscious.

There is speculation that a shot from a teammate may have struck him or Nichushkin.

After being unresponsive on the ice for a while, Friedman was eventually helped back to the locker room.
As a result, Friedman was unable to return to the ice, as the Canucks lost to the Avalanche 5-2.
Defenceman Mark Friedman will not return to tonight's game.
In the meantime, there's been no update on Friedman's condition.
