With all this youth infusion in the lineup, there's still a need to surround them with good veterans. Scott Laughton is certainly one of them.

The 27-year-old forward will make a return to action tonight against the Columbus Blue Jackets after suffering a concussion in early March. According to Mike Yeo, Laughton is excited and can't wait to play.

"He's pretty jacked up. He was telling Darryl Williams he couldn't sleep last night he was so excited to play," said Mike Yeo.

And Laughton confirmed it in front of reporters...

"New guys bring a new energy. It's exciting to be part of it. I'm looking forward to tonight and happy to be back. In these game, we're trying to build something to take into next year," said Laughton.

With that being said, Laughton proved how important he is for his team. He wants to be a leader in this group, and will do everything in his power to show the path to follow to the younger players.

By his own terms, he wants to be an "influence" for them.

"They have been really good. Catsie (Noah Cates) has been really good, strong, makes good plays. You can see he is a really smart player. Tippers' (Owen Tippett) got so many opportunities since he's been here. He's definitely a shooter that can make plays and get along the walls. Ronnie (Attard) has done a good job coming in, just being a big body and (has) a really good shot," said Laughton.
