Adam Johnson, the winger for the Nottingham Panthers, died due to an accident on ice. Having made many stops along his journey, his death affected many in the hockey world.

Between 2018 and 2020, the 29-year-old played 13 games for the Pittsburgh Penguins organization, mostly with the Wilke-Barre Penguins in the AHL. One of those paths he crossed was Sidney Crosby's:
"It's something that we've all been thinking about. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones. Just a great guy, a great teammate, and had an awesome attitude while he was here. Just genuinely happy to be playing in the NHL."

Crosby on what memories come to mind from playing with Adam Johnson: "A few. I think his first goal, definitely. To see him score in his home state was pretty cool. And just the way he skated. There's some guys that, when you get out there with them, they can just flat out fly. He was one of them. He could motor out there. I remember skating with him for the first time, and that was the first thing that stood out."

Following Johnson's death, Crosby spoke about his experience in the NHL and the loss of Johnson.
While Johnson played only a short time in the NHL and AHL, he seemed to have a positive impact wherever he played. Everywhere he went, his teammates loved him for his hard work and dedication. Hopefully, the tide is changing on neckguards after the tragic loss of Adam Johnson, since it's obvious that players need them.
