The start of the 2023 regular season has been an exciting one for Flyers fans. From earning wins against five of the NHL's top clubs to sitting in the playoff picture, not many Flyers fans could have expected the success the team has seen thus far.

However, the holiday season hasn't been as friendly to the Flyers as they have fallen into a slump and are visibly fatigued as they try and close out their five game road trip tonight in Edmonton.
In the past five games to begin the road trip, the Flyers have gone 1-2-2 and have fallen to third in the Metro Division. Albeit, the team is still finding ways to earn points here and there with overtime and shootout losses, but the team just hasn't quite been able to close out games.
In three of the teams past four losses, the Flyers have been able to grab a lead and score first. However, by the third period their opponents seem just a little more rested as teams have found their offensive success in the third period against the Flyers.
However, fans must take into account the fact that the team has had to be on the road away from home for five straight games, including a back-to-back that saw the team travel from Vancouver to Seattle.
The team has also seen illness and injuries strike the team as Travis Konecny, Samuel Ersson and others have been battling through during this trip. If the Flyers can see a win or earn a point tonight before getting back to Philly and having a day of rest, this team could be back to skating like they were from Nov. 3 through late December.
