Star Forward Available For Cheap - Fletcher Needs to Call Right Away
With the deadline coming nearer and nearer, there seems to be a new player who becomes available each day.
The most recent player to hit the rumor mill is Canucks forward,
Brock Boeser.
According to Elliote Friedman, the 25-year old is available for cheaper than some may have expected.
Must read on FlyersInsider
Boeser is in year one of his three year contract that sees him earning $6.7mil per season. He is a solid player offensively, but it may be his defense that is making the Canucks willing to part ways with him for a cheaper price.
The forward has 16 points in 20 games this year, but he also has a -14 +/-. That +/- is a pretty bad number for a full season, but just 20 games in is really bad.
With the Canucks looking to clear cap space, Boeser's defensive abilities can really be a big reason as to why they are willing to ship him.
Obviously the +/- number comes from all guys on the ice at the same time as him, but that just means the Canucks clearly need defensive help. So, it would make sense for them to use that cleared money to bring in defensive help.
This makes you wonder if Boeser's situation with not being told he was scratched shortly after his father passed away is a reason that they are willing to ship him.
