The rebuilding phase for the Flyers is beginning to take shape as the NHL draft gets closer and the rumours and talk amplified throughout the league. One of the positions the Flyers lack greatly is up the middle. They experienced a devastating loss when centerman Sean Couturier went down with an injury this year and wasn't able to play.

The depth chart became very thin which showed on the score sheet as their scoring wingers had a hard time breaking point barriers.
Newly installed general manager Danny Briere is expected to make his mark on this team with president Keith Jones. This splash that could be coming could come from a trade that could stem from the Carolina Hurricanes. One of the positions the Hurricanes possess in their draft building is up the middle.
The Hurricanes possess six centermen that are signed for next season. One player in particular that should catch the eye of the Flyers is Martin Necas. Necas currently holds a $3 million cap hit and will be a restricted free agent next season with arbitrary rights. During his season he played all 82 games, scored 28 goals with 43 assists and 71 points he was a + 5 and had 32 penalty minutes.
As the Flyers are in a rebuilding stage, they can send anyone they want - the Lehigh Valley Phantoms have some talent they can offer since they're in a rebuilding phase. The Hurricanes also need scoring wingers, so roster players could also be sent over.
Travis Konecny and defenseman Ivan Provorov are the players the Hurricanes could covet. Though it's hard to say what general manager Don Waddell would be looking for.
