Slowly but surely, the Flyers are building their coaching staff. The first big move was to hire John Tortorella as head coach. Now, the team will have to surround him well with good assistant coaches.

According to Chris Johnston, the Flyers have hired Brad Shaw as an associate coach. He was with the Canucks. In the case of Vancouver, they brought in Mike Yeo as an assistant coach. Basically, the two teams made a coaching exchange.
Shaw was an assistant coach, and then head coach for 40 games of the New York Islanders in 2005-2006. He then went to St. Louis, where he was an assistant, and then an associate coach between 2006 and 2016. Brad Shaw was on the coaching staff of John Tortorella with the Blue Jackets from the 2016-17 season to the 2020-21 campaign. He signed with the Canucks, where he only stayed for one year this season.
