The Flyers could land an exciting well-rounded prospect at 7
With the NHL draft only 3 weeks away, many revelations and questions will be answered as to how the new management team of the Flyers will handle this rebuilding phase that they have decided to start.
This year's draft will be pivotal for many teams as this is one of the deepest drafts in the last 20 years. The Flyers must choose the correct player since they require a generational talent to help springboard this rebuilding phase and bring the team back into contention.
One name has been circulating the Internet for the Flyers at #7, who happens to be Zach Benson. The 18-year-old who plays for the Winnipeg Ice of the WHL stands at 5 foot 10 and 159 pounds. Despite his small size, many people feel his hockey IQ is off the charts and that he will be a force within the NHL's scoring race.
A scout offered his thoughts about Zack's abilities while speaking to the daily faceoff com.

«His skill, his maturity, the IQ, it's all there,» a scout said. «He plays a game built on outskilling and outthinking others, and it works.»
His point totals continued to build in the three years he has played for the ice, in which he has played 60 games this year, and has scored 36 goals with 62 assists for 98 points. He holds 49 penalty minutes and is a whopping plus 68.
«Zach has been right on since day one,» coach Stephane Julien said at the time. «Every shift, he competes and brings our team to the next level.»
One of the aspects of head coach John Tortorella's philosophy for hockey is that defence comes first. Benson fits the mould that Torts are looking for and holding a + 68 certainly speaks volumes about his defensive play.
«Benson's biggest asset is the way he reads plays,» a scout said. «One of the smartest players in the draft class. He's also so defensively responsible, which isn't always the case for kids putting up nearly 100 points.»
If Benson were to fall into the Flyers' lap at #7, he would be an excellent all-around player. I would suspect that general manager Danny Briere would want to choose him to give his offence a more potent attack.
