With Fortino's promotion, she becomes the first female assistant coach in OHL history, further opening the door for women's hockey and to grow the game as a whole.
Fortino is a Canadian ice hockey player for Markham Thunder October 3, 2011, she was named to the Team Canada roster that participated in the 2011 4 Nations Cup.[1] Of note, she was the first overall selection in the 2014 CWHL Draft.[2]
