The Philadelphia Flyers Worst-Case Scenario Has Been Revealed..

In the past, the Flyers' general managers have believed that signing unrestricted free agents and retaining players with long contracts is the way to improve the team.

As several teams have shown, rebuilds, if done properly, can be very beneficial for an organization, as ownership and management will shed unnecessary contracts and usher in a new era of players into their lineups.

This season, which happens to be the second year of the rebuilding phase, is widely expected not to be a successful one. Several key pieces in the Flyers' lineup are missing in terms of talent, preventing this team from succeeding. The Flyers do have some players and talent that will help score goals and defend.

However, as is typical during any rebuilding phase, those players will be used as trade bait to bolster the situation with draft picks and prospects of NHL-ready players.

As the season begins, The Hockey News has released its view on the Flyers and believes that the worst-case scenario would be an injury bug hampering the team, along with a lack of depth resulting in one of the worst NHL records this season.

If Danny Briere and Keith Jones believe in keeping the youngsters with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms will allow them to play full minutes and develop further, I do not expect great results and the Flyers will be fighting for another lottery pick this year.

Time will tell to see how this all unfolds, but these seemingly lost seasons will be worth it in the long run once the talent arrives, and the Flyers become competitive once again.
