As the off-season progresses, Tomas Tatar remains unsigned, and the Pittsburgh Penguins appear interested in the veteran forward.
However, the likelihood of a guaranteed contract with the team seems slim after a reporter revealed the Penguins took a Low blow towards the veteran.
According to Rob Rossi of The Athletic, the Penguins might extend Tatar a professional tryout (PTO) if he doesn't secure a contract before camp begins.

My info on this since late last Sunday has been Penguins are keenly interested, but it might come down to if Tatar gets a guaranteed deal elsewhere opposed to a PTO for camp in Pittsburgh (with expectation he gets a contract). @TheAthleticNHL
Tatar, 32, had a strong season with the New Jersey Devils, recording 20 goals and 28 assists for a total of 48 points across all 82 games. He is one of, if not thee best free agent available, at 32 years old with many years in the league, a PTO 'offer' is the last thing a player like that deserves.
