The Real Reason Why The Flyers' Trade With Carolina Fell Through
There was a rumored trade for Tony DeAngelo between the Carolina Hurricanes and Philadelphia Flyers. Upon Briere agreeing to take on half of DeAngelo's contract, a return was to be a prospect.
Despite the NHL's opposition, the deal never materialized. It seemed like it'd go through but never did.
In other words, the team apparently did not want DeAngelo back.

I'm sure there were several factors that went into the Tony DeAngelo trade falling through, but it sounds like #Hurricanes' ownership played some kind of role in it.

The trade appears to have been stopped by Tom Dundon and Hurricanes ownership! That would be bad, Waddell being vetoed by his owner.
As a player with such a sordid history, it's easy to understand why the Hurricanes would not want him back.
His primary output with the Flyers was offense, where he scored 11 goals, and 31 assists for 42 points in 70 games.
DeAngelo can be a bargain bin deal for the next team that needs his offensive ability if a buyout saves Briere's cap space for better talent and prospects.
