The season for the Sharks has been an unmitigated disaster. The team was widely expected to be one of the worst in the NHL as they continued to falter after their Stanley Cup window closed. This team is a shadow of what they were a few years ago when they had the likes of Patrick Marleau, Joe Thornton, Erik Karlsson, and Brent Burns.
In less than eight years, this team went from being a Stanley Cup finalist to a team that started the season with a record of 0-10-1. With the worst start in franchise history, the Sharks organization felt they needed to give their fans a laugh, and it appears they hired a fake Gritty, who is the mascot of the Flyers, to be decked by their mascot with one solid punch.
Both teams are undergoing rebuilding and are expected to remain in the basement of the NHL for the foreseeable future.
The Flyers will play against the Anaheim Ducks on Friday, November 10th, at 10:00 PM Eastern.
