The Senators recently announced that they would retire Chris Neil's #25.

This is surprising because he never had a season with more than 33 points.
To the Senators, though, the numbers aren't everything. They are one of the lesser storied franchises in the sport, and because of this, locker room personalities mean that much more.

Neil played for the Senators for 15 years and had over 1,000 games played for the team. He was a cornerstone of the franchise for a long time, even though his numbers weren't at the top of the league.
A player with that much loyalty is always going to be up for discussion as to who will have their jersey retired next.
Luckily for Neil, the team believed that he was the right fit to have his number raised in front of the "Sens Army" for years to come.
