The Philadelphia flyers are going to be sellers at the trade deadline, and they have a lot of trade chips. James van Riemsdyk's name has been circling the market for awhile now and it seems like conversations are starting to heat up around his name.
It makes sense as he will become a unrestricted free agent at the end of this year, and can still produce some offence so the Flyers might as well get a return for him rather then just letting him walk. Michael Russo of The Athletic reported that the Toronto Maple Leafs are currently linked to JVR.
The Maple Leafs are looking to add to their top six and JVR seems like a perfect addition for them. Yes they have interest in Patrick Kane and Timo Meier, but JVR would cost a lot less to acquire and also previously played for the Leafs for six years.
JVR isn't having the greatest year point wise as he only has 22 points in 35 games, but maybe getting slotted into the top six of the Leafs could spark something for him and be able to produce more offensively.
