The word on the web is that the Flyers lack finish. Having watched the games this season I can certainly agree with that assessment. One of the key areas the Flyers need to address this offseason or at the trade deadline is finding themselves a new number-one center.

Kevin Hayes has filled that role this year and he's done a good job however, he certainly has his flaws in his game. I do believe that the man that could solve this problem would be Vancouver centreman, Bo Horvat.
The 27-year-old 6-foot center coming in at 215 pounds is having a banner year on a demoralized Vancouver team. He brings a leadership role in being the current captain, and has the size and scoring touch that would bolster the Flyers' anemic offense. He would compliment players like Owen Tippett and Travis Konecny and elevate their game.

Recently, he rejected a new contract offer by the Canucks and released a statement stating that he wanted to keep his contract negotiations private.
With the rejection, he will be a free agent and certainly will fetch himself 10s of millions of dollars unless a deal can be made to obtain his rights. Some may say that the Flyers would be better off waiting until the offseason to try to obtain him but if they want to fulfill their aggressive retool, I think this would qualify and certainly would send a message to the rest of the NHL that the Flyers mean business.
The Flyers would need to move a roster player with a significant cap hit to accommodate Horvat's $5.5 million cap hit. The player the Canucks could use is James van Riemsdyk. With his 6-foot-three frame and veteran presence, he could give the Canucks much-needed stability in their top six.
They would also need to consider moving a prospect to help sweeten the deal along with a draft pick. Olle Lyscksell would fit well with the Canucks, especially with his European connection, and in preseason proved that he could make the roster but there wasn't enough room.
Mind you this is speculation and my thoughts, but I feel that this would be the first step in the restoration of the Philadelphia Flyers. By obtaining Horvat I believe he's the right fit for this team.
