There's a growing concern about Ryan Ellis' willingness to be around the team

This situation is so weird.

Ryan Ellis, who played only 4 games this season, has been contemplating a surgery for the lower-body injury he is suffering from. Is it the hip? Anthony Di Marco, from the Fourth Period, suggested it.

He isn't the only one to do so as Paul Bissonnette, who is a an analyst at TNT, also talked about (not on purpose though) the hip as the possible nature of Ellis' injury.

But there's also another problem here.

Some people in Hockey Operations aren't sure what is the real problem, but there's a growing concern about Ryan Ellis' willingness to be around the team. Some are even wondering if he ever wanted to be with the Flyers.

Honestly, if Ellis isn't with the Flyers next season because of the injury, or simply because he doesn't want anything to do with the team, the "aggressive retool" plan from Fletcher will be impossible to pull. Ryan Ellis is just too much of a big part for this organization.
