Of course, it's important to draft well in the 1st round. But when you look at teams that had success recently, they all have a common point : their ability to find some gems in the later rounds.

The best example of it is the Tampa Bay Lightning. Anthony Cirelli and Brayden Point are both 3rd round picks. Nikita Kucherov is a 2nd round pick. Ondrej Palat is a 7th round pick. Ross Colton is a 4th round pick.
That's how you build a successful team in the long term. And recently, the Flyers seems to have done that. Noah Cates, Bobby Brink and Ronnie Attard are in this category. You can also count Emil Andrae and Elliot Desnoyers. Of course, the majority of them could be straight busts but they have the potential to make an impact on this team.
But there's another Flyers' prospect who is turning heads. Ethan Samson, a 6th round pick in 2021, has been given the best defensive player of the year and the MVP awards by his team, the Prince George Cougars.
This season, the 6 foot 3 defenseman has collected 43 points in 68 games. He is going to be a very interesting player to follow in the years to come...
