This fact gives the Flyers a big advantage in the quest for Johnny Gaudreau

Of course, the Calgary Flames will do everything in their power to extend Johnny Gaudreau's contract. He's the third best scorer in the league with 107 points in 76 games.

As you know, the 5-foot 9-inches forward will be a UFA this summer, so if he's free in July, he will have the chance to choose the next city where he'll probably play for the rest of his career.

There are always many factors to consider when you make a life changing decision. And one of them has always been family. In the case of Gaudreau, his family is in the Philadelphia area.

For example, his brother Matt was recently appointed as head coach for the Gloucester Catholic ice hockey program. It's only 15 minutes away from the Wells Fargo Center.


Being close to his family is obviously going to be a big part in his final decision. But it's certainly the most important one. The Flyers have a big advantage in the Johnny Gaudreau quest.
