It's been a few days since the beginning of the NHL training camp, and after gruelling hours of work and practice, teams are starting to showcase their ability to play the game in preseason matches.
The Bruins played their first preseason game against the Rangers, where they introduced one of their new players, the former Flyers forward James van Riemsdyk, who recently signed with them after his second stint with the Flyers.
Much was made about JVR's time in Philadelphia after many thought he would be traded at the trade deadline by the former general manager Chuck Fletcher. After the trade deadline passed and JVR was still a Flyer, many fans were mystified and angry that Fletcher could not move the 34-year-old forward, not even for a draft pick.
During the summer, he landed a contract with the Boston Bruins, his second Original Six team after spending numerous years with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Having signed a one-year deal with the Bruins, his cap hit is $1 million.

During the game, he was on the ice and sporting an A on his jersey for one of Jake DeBrusk's nifty goals that breezed past the newly acquired
Jonathan Quick of the Rangers.
I expect JVR to have a decent season with the Bruins, as the team has taken a step back with the recent loss of David Krejci and the six-time Selke winner Patrice Bergeron. He will provide the Bruins with added depth and veteran presence, which should translate into goals, especially on the power play.
