There are three NHL players who look to be breakout candidates for the upcoming 2022-23 season.

First of all there is Jason Robertson of the Dallas Stars. This young man had a terrific season. He tallied 41 goals, 38 assists in 74 games. That is a 1.07 points-per-game average.
He also is a very accurate shooter, carrying an 18.6 percent rate. So, get him the puck and your chances of the red light turning on are good. And... he just turned 23 years old.
The problem is, Robertson is a restricted free agent whose three-year entry-level contract worth $2.775 million has expired. He could potentially earn a three-year deal worth $7 million AAV. That is, IF the Stars sign him.

With his level of play, he could score 50 goals and maybe 90 points this season. He's that good.
So, it behoves the Stars management to get this talented forward signed.

Next up is Jordan Kyrou of the St. Louis Blues. He just signed a lucrative eight-year $65 million deal set to kick in for the 2023-24 season.
He is just 24 years old and has a bright future with the Blues. The Blues didn't waste any time signing him.
He had 27 goals, 48 assists in 74 games. Kyrou added five power play goals and 14 assists to his resume. He shoots at a 14.4 percent accuracy rate.
He can breakout to be a 85-90 point player this season, which will make him a valuable asset for the Blues.
The thing is if Kyrou can get $8.125 million, what will it take to sign Robertson?

Finally, there is Jack Hughes of the New Jersey Devils. His 26 goals, 30 assists in just 49 games due to injuries, puts him at a 1.14 points-per-game pace for a full season.
If Hughes can stay healthy, he's sure to be a breakout player for the 2022-23 season. He signed a huge eight-year $64 million pact last November. Now, he intends to show his worth by performing up to the level of that kind of money.
He has all the skills and talent to help the Devils make a run at the playoffs this new season. Keep your eyes on #86... he's pretty special.
