Flyers fans along with all fans throughout the NHL have come to know that head coach John Tortorella is a very passionate person. He holds his players accountable when times are tough, and he also praises them when they do great work.
Another side of the 64-year-old coach is that he will defend former players especially when wrongdoing has happened to them. Prior to their game against the Boston Bruins, Tortorella spoke to the media when he caught a glimpse of the reporter that was responsible for the Kevin Hayes - Cutter Gauthier rumors.
Torts' made it clear very quickly that he had zero interest in dealing with him.

Over the past several weeks, rumors have been running about that Kevin Hayes was partially responsible for the abrupt end between Gauthier and the Flyers. Gauthier himself managed to clear that up when he spoke to the media a few weeks ago.
I applaud that Tortorella is protecting his players and even former players especially ones that did not always agree with the coach and may have embarrassed them in front of the media. It's important to keep accountability when commenting on these stories.
