John Tortorella is a quote machine and as a Flyers fan, how can you not love it. In his recent address to the media and fans, a common theme arose with the American coach. That is, he likes to negotiate and send his team messages through the media. There would be no other reason for him to drop quote after quote after quote otherwise. He knows the players are watching.
"I don't have the ability or the sight that offensive people have. I need to allow them to play, but it's going to be a two-way street. It needs to be a two-way street, just show me that you're willing to give us something away from the puck."
The common theme in all of his answers, accountability, teamwork and push and pull. The more you listen to him speak, the less you picture him as a tyrant but more as a father. You need to show him you will do things off-ice and away from the puck to benefit the team.
