The Flyers organization along with their fan base has been enjoying this surprising season as they have defied all odds and have vaulted themselves into second place in the metro division.
Many things have gone right for the Flyers this year including superb goaltending from Carter Hart, a complete buy in for defence first and scoring enough goals to win hockey games.
The stark reality is that the Flyers are in the middle of a rebuild and even though the team is doing quite well right now, the need for acquiring depth and building still needs to go on.
Head coach John Tortorella had meetings prior to the trade deadline where he gave his brutally honest view on where the team is going.

Torts assessment is the right one as the team continues to build it's far from complete. There are several holes in the lineup and the Flyers need to continue to build their depth from The Phantoms all the way up to the main team.
This season is exactly what the Flyers needed for rebuild as they continue to build up these players who will give them quality assets in return whether it's or draft picks, prospects or both.
It will be a fascinating next month and 1/2 as the team tries to strive as high as possible while setting themselves up to being sellers.
