As the NHL prepares to begin its 107th season, the Vancouver Canucks continue to be a story that has been an absolute trainwreck since the 2015-2016 season. During that time, the Canucks have only qualified for the playoffs once, in 2019-2020.

Year after year, the complete mismanagement of this organization permeates through the team and has given the team a terrible image.
With the loss of Bo Horvat, who was by far the player they should have bet on, the Canucks are seeking leadership and a great two-way player to help fill the void as they continue to evaluate their roster and make changes in the hope of improving. It appears the Canucks are targeting Flyers forward Scott Laughton for such a role.
The Vancouver Canucks have emerged as significant players in the ongoing NHL trade rumor mill, with their sights set on Philadelphia Flyers forward Scott Laughton. While specific trade details remain elusive, it's clear that Vancouver is actively exploring avenues to acquire Laughton, recognizing the potential impact he could bring to their forward lines.

After taking home the gold medal in the World Championships, Laughton was high on numerous NHL general managers' lists as a player they coveted in the offseason for trade. General manager Danny Briere never budged and has kept Laughton on his roster as his team continues to rebuild.
A player with his leadership qualities would certainly give the Canucks benefits that they currently lack, and also a player who can excel in a two-way role and put the puck in the net. It would be widely expected that the Flyers would be looking for a solid prospect and a high draft pick in return for such a player, as he currently has a cap hit of $3 million for the next three seasons.
It remains to be seen whether a trade like this can be negotiated.
