Fighting in the sport of hockey was an essential part of the game for a long time. You go back and look at some of the greats that have dropped the gloves and never though twice. Guys like Tie Domi, Donald Brashear, Riley Cote, and even in today's game with Ryan Reeves and Tom Wilson. Philadelphia fans will always relate to the "Broad Street bullies" and talk about the memories.

The Flyers have lacked that and more importantly, lacked the defending of a teammate. Its already known how dysfunctional the locker room is and what way to try and silence that by coming to the aid of a teammate in need. It screams "Hey, i got your back, don't worry". It's something that will be thought about and hopefully see more.
Thats exactly what Wade Allison did against the Bruins on Saturday night in the preseason opener. Antoine Roussel was run into and went flying on what looked like a bit of a hit to the head, Allison came right to his aid. When asked about it, his response showed leadership and it showed that this team is going to defend each other. "You mess with one of ours, you're going to hear about it, one way or another". His response to the question was perfect.
Check out the fight below and then Wade's response to dropping the gloves against a player from the Bruins.
