While we look back at the season, we can't help but to question the decisions that have been made by the coaching and the GM staff during the year. It became clear, since at least January, that this current Flyers roster would never reach the playoffs. Others NHL teams have been using this season to give ice time to their younger players to develop for seasons to come.

Philadelphia's management is too old school and is yet to realize that the league has changed. The time where teams would prioritize experience, size and strength is over, but Flyers GM keep thinking this way. This is the only reason explaining why they keep signing old veterans with not much left in the tank, and players that are already past their prime.
It is about time to do like other bottom teams: rebuild with young players, regardless of their experience and to trust the new style of hockey based on raw talent and speed. Ottawa Senators are doing it and even though they have the same amount of points then the Flyers, their roster has a bright future: Drake Batherson, Brady Tkachuk, Tim Stutzle
Same goes for New Jersey Devils or Columbus Blue Jackets. They are preparing for the seasons to come, and Philadelphia is not.
Flyers have one of the oldest rosters in the league with an average age of 29 years old. Keeping the like of Nate Thompson (37), Justin Braun (35), Kevin Connauton (32) and Keith Yandle (35) is not going to help the team in any way.
