BREAKING: The Flyers Win A Game

"The Flyers were outplayed for much of the night in Calgary, getting outshot 45-21, but a rare offensive outburst midway through the second period was enough to finally end their long losing streak.

Both goaltenders nearly got through the first period unscathed, but both teams found the back of the net late in the opening frame. Troy Brouwer opened the scoring at 18:15 as Travis Sanheim whiffed on a clearing attempt off a juicy rebound from a Curtus Lazar shot and the veteran swiped the puck right through the five-hole of Brian Elliott.

Valtteri Filppula had a quick answer as he tied the game just 1:01 later. Andrew MacDonald's shot from the point hit off the skate of Jakub Voracek in front of the net and went right Filppula's stick, who flicked the puck past Mike Smith for his seventh goal of the season.

The Flames outshot the Flyers 21-7 during the second period, but they found themselves down three goals after 71 second offensive outburst by the road team. Scott Laughton gave the Flyers a 2-1 lead at the 7:31 mark with his third goal of the year. Shayne Gostisbehere's shot from the point hit off the post and deflected off of Smith and Laughton got his stick on the puck before it crossed the goal line.

25 seconds after picking up the secondary assist on Laughton's goal, Michael Raffl doubled the Flyers lead as he played a game of give-and-go with Voracek and beat Smith with a slap shot to the short side. Filppula picked up the secondary assist.

Wayne Simmonds capped off the outburst with a power play goal 46 seconds later by getting to the front of the net and quickly putting a loose puck into the Calgary net. Sean Couturier and Voracek had the helpers on the Wayne Train's eighth goal on the year.

Sean Monahan made a lot of Flyers fans nervous by cutting the lead to 4-2 with just over a minute remaining in the second period by skating out of the corner and beat Elliott from below the right circle by going top shelf.

The Flyers have blown multiple two goal leads during their 10-game losing streak so nobody felt at ease heading into the third period. Thankfully, Laughton scored his second goal of the night about two minutes into the final frame to give the Flyers their three goal lead back. Laughton got to the front of the net to bang home a rebound off a Jordan Weal shot to cap off the scoring.

With the way the new lines were able to click and put some goals on the board, especially the second line, it makes you wonder why Dave Hakstol didn't split up Giroux, Couturier and Voracek earlier. That's a conversation for another time because HOLY CRAP THE FLYERS WON!!!!
