With the current Philadelphia Flyers struggles seemingly almost uncontrollable, trade chatter around forward Wayne Simmonds has started to grow. The most recent insider to chime in on the topic was Sportsnet's Nick Kypreos during this past weekend's Hockey Night In Canada. Kypreos mentioned that he doesn't believe Flyers general manager Ron Hextall really wants to move Simmonds, but with Simmonds being the team's most valuable asset he might not have a choice. There's no doubt about it that Simmonds would bring the Flyers quite the interesting haul considering he's signed until the summer of 2019. Even though the Flyers will have $36million committed to just eight players for 2019-20, with the salary cap predicted to rise, Sportsnet's Mark Spector believes the Flyers will try their best to keep the power forward around. The cost?Spector believes Simmonds will most probably be seeking an AAV of $6million a season, something that Spector believes will be reasonable for the Flyers if the salary cap is around $80million by then.
