"Many felt that when Michal Neuvirth return from injured reserve after the holiday break, we'd see Brian Elliott get a little more time off.
Head coach Dave Hakstol did not share in that line of thinking as he played Elliotte both on Thursday night at the Florida Panthers and again on Friday at the Tampa Bay Lightning.
"This is his third back-to-back this month. That's nothing to look past," Hakstol said after the team's win over Tampa Bay, per Dave Isaac of the Courier-Post. "For him to be able to put it back together and be able to be at the top of his game (Friday) says an awful lot about him as a person and as a player.
"You see how guys react to him on the ice. There's a high level of confidence. I think that's a two-way street. His compete level helps feed that level of intensity toward the players and vice versa. He was important in this win (against the Lightning)."
The Flyers are in a difficult spot as they need the 32-year-old Elliott as much as possible to help chase down a playoff spot, but they are also running the risk of wearing him before the final stretch run.
Do you want to see more of Michal Neuvirth or do ride Brian Elliott as far as he will take you?"
