The Philadelphia Flyers clearly still have a goalie problem. The team gave up 28 goals in six games to the Pittsburgh Penguins during their first round series and aside from great performances in Game 2 and 5, it was a mess. While Petr Mrazek won't be back next season, both Brian Elliott and Michal Neuvirth will be and seem to have been given a vote of confidence from general manager Ron Hextall. It's surprising considering the talent the Flyers have in the system, while Alex Lyons has looked great in his young career so far, young Carter Hart is climbing up the depth chart and looking like a future superstar. Could Hart snatch a spot on the Flyers roster next year? Hextall responded to that question recently. "I'm comfortable where we're at with our goaltending. Neuvy (Michal Neuvirth) had some injury issues. I'm excited about Neuvy's commitment. We got our kids coming. We got the kids up at Lehigh. We feel very comfortable with where we're at. In saying that, we need some growth."
"We need some growth" while that's not saying yes, it's saying there's a chance! It's highly doubtful Elliott and Neuvirth have any more room to grow.
