"The Philadelphia Flyers took a tough luck loss against the New York Islanders last night by a score of 3-1. There was some bright spots though as head coach Alain Vigneault felt the team improved on their play without the puck, an area Vigneault is looking to concentrate on. When talking to the media he was asked about a couple of the roster battles on defense and up front. Those questions included forward Chris Stewart who's currently at camp on a PTO and Vigneault made an interesting comment. ""He's come in with a sense of urgency. He's skating real well. Last night, he got in on the forecheck. Got in a fight. With that kind of energy, there's a spot on a team.""
It's interesting that AV said ""there's a spot on A team"" and not something like ""that kind of play could earn a spot on THIS team"". Stewart hasn't played in the NHL since 2017-18.
AV on Chris Stewart: ""He's come in with a sense of urgency. He's skating real well. Last night, he got in on the forecheck. Got in a fight. With that kind of energy, there's a spot on a team.""
