Does Daniel Briere deserve GM of the year?

Flyers GM Daniel Briere has accomplished some incredible things in his first year as GM in Philadelphia, he was able to deal with some insane issues while also putting a solid team together and making some big trades at the same time.

January was an intense month for Briere as he had to deal with the Carter Hart and Cutter Gauthier situations.

First, after Hart was accused of some horrible crimes and had to leave the team, Briere had to quickly find a replacement in which Samuel Ersson stepped up and has been playing very well since.

Then within the same week, it was announced that prospect Cutter Gauthier was not interested in playing for the Flyers which Briere was able to turn that into Jamie Drysdale and a 2025 2nd rounder.


Additionally, as of recently, the Flyers GM was able to get goaltender Ivan Fedotov over from the KHL after he had complications in 2022 for allegedly evading military service. Briere did not disclose how he was able to get Fedotov out of his contract with the KHL or finishing his military service but he did say that management felt it was worth all the effort.


It has not been an easy first year for Briere as GM of the Flyers but he has proven that even with many major obstacles in his way, he was still able to put out a solid hockey team.
