Last night saw the Philadelphia Flyers snap an ugly five game losing streak, winning their first game in nearly two weeks as they took down Eastern Conference powerhouse Florida Panthers 2-1 on the road. Aside from a stellar performance from goalie Samuel Ersson, a certain Flyers All-Star proved to give the Flyers an edge on Tuesday night.

After appearing in his second NHL All-Star Game of his career in Toronto last weekend, Travis Konecny showed no signs of fatigue as he put the Flyers offense on his back, while also providing leadership on the ice.
To start the game, the Flyers looked extremely sloppy in the first period against the Panthers. They started the game being outshot by the Panthers 6-0 in the first three minutes of the game. After a sloppy first period that saw the Flyers go into intermission down 1-0, a response by Travis Konecny shifted the momentum of the entire game.
In the second period, Konecny put the Flyers offense on his back and seemingly changed the trajectory of the game as he netted his 23 goal of the season on an incredible breakaway.

After the Flyers had a much better second period and Konecny tied the game, the 2024 All-Star showed why he is a perfect representation of Philadelphia and its fans, getting chippy with Panthers center Sam Bennett and getting into a bit of a skirmish before the end of the second period.
Konecny showed on Tuesday night why he not only deserves to receive a long-term extension from the Flyers, but is extremely deserving of the captains patch.
