For any team making the playoffs in hoping for a long cup run, secondary scoring is important as 99% of the time the big stars will be shut down in a tight checking game and your third and 4th line players become your scorers.

The Flyers have been enjoying this season which has been a complete surprise as most pundits and fans felt that they would be at the bottom of the standings much like last year.
This is not the case as head coach John Tortorella is getting everything he can out of this lineup as they play a tight defensive game while getting opportunistic goals.
The Flyers played the Blackhawks and one player in particular garnet Hathaway was able to score the game winner putting the team up 3-1 in the second period.
The 32-year-old right winger is a consistent bottom six player who Is a penalty killer and may chip in the occasional goal. Through 57 games this season, Hathaway has scored six goals with three assists for 9 points with 76 penalty minutes.
He may not dazzle on the score sheet, but Hathaway certainly will be vital as the Flyers inch closer to securing a playoff spot.
