"The Philadelphia Flyers will most likely make some roster moves this summer as they try and improve on this year's results. Yesterday, it was mentioned how the Flyers will likely buy out the final year of Jori Lehtera's contract to free up some cap space and a roster spot.Sam Carchidi of Philly.com who reported the possible buy out, brought up another interesting idea on Tuesday. If the Flyers buy out Lehtera and the NHL salary cap goes up to $80million, the Flyers will have about $25.5million in salary cap space. That $25.5million would give Hextall more than enough salary cap space to make a huge splash this summer and sign unrestricted free agent John Tavares. It's not very often that consistent 30 goal scorers hit free agency, and bringing in Tavares would give the team a very healthy top six. Would you like to see Hextall go after Tavares?
For those asking....Assuming the cap goes from $75M to $80M and assuming the #Flyers buy out Jori Lehtera, they will have about $25.5M in cap space this summer. #JohnTavaresWatch — Sam Carchidi (@BroadStBull) April 24, 2018
