The Philadelphia Flyers skated away with a big win last night against Columbus and sit in a playoff spot during Thanksgiving for the first time in years. Philly's positive play has gone on despite struggles by two of their biggest players, James van Riemsdyk and Shayne Gostisbehere. While Gostisbehere has been in the press box lately, JVR has been demoted to the fourth line but has been thrown a bone by head coach Alain Vigneault by sticking on the power play.JVR sounds a bit more optimistic than Gostisbehere did recently."I feel like I've gotten some good looks, and I've certainly been a little snakebitten," van Riemsdyk said. "But I know I'm here to produce offense and it hasn't necessarily gone well for me in that sense, but I have to focus on the other details as I mentioned, and the rest usually takes care of itself." As much as JVR isn't happy about being on the 4th line, he understands AV's decision. "Everyone wants to play," van Riemsdyk said, "but that being said, those decisions are out of your control as a player. You just have a good attitude, a good mindset every day, and you go from there."
