Many fans across the NHL took notice last season when head coach John Tortorella removed himself from the Flyers bench and spent some time in the upper rafters sitting with general manager Danny Briere.
It was later announced during the off season that Torts will be involved in player decisions with management which begs the question, does Torts have any interest in a management role?
That answer was revealed when former general manager Doug Maclean explained on the real Kyper and Bourne show that Tortorella wished to move to management when he was with the Blue Jackets who was denied by former general manager Jarmo Kekaleinan. They parted ways with the team after six seasons.

It will be intriguing if he decides to make that move with the Flyers and with Flyers ownership showing that he will be part of the decision making when it comes to the roster, it's quite possible that McLean is right and that a coaching change may happen next year.
Many coaches have made the move to GM and had great success including the late Pat Quinn, Glen Sather and Flyers legendary coach Fred Shero.
Tortorella is in his 2nd of a four-year deal with the Flyers. He began his coaching career with the Rochester Americans in 1996.
